Monday Mixtape: What’s In A Name?
Posted by admin | Filed under mixtape

The other day I read a post over on For Folks Sake which vaguely mentioned Loudon Wainwright namechecking Bob Dylan in “My Biggest Fan”, then on random shuffle this morning Snow Patrol’s “Hand’s Open” came on my generic MP3 playing device and got me wondering to just how many songs dropped name’s of heroes and enemies alike. Frank Turner – ‘Back In The Day’ mentions Black Flag and Minor Threat.
Cursive – ‘Sink To The Beat’ mentions Shudder To Think and Fugazi.
Jetplane Landing – ‘Why Do They Never Play Les Savy Fav On The Radio?’ probably doesn’t need an explanation.
..so there’s three more!

Whoah I didn’t realise all the JPL stuff was on Spotify. They name drop a lot on that album. Dizzee Gillespie, Sam Cooke, Miles Davis… I’m going to listen to it now. Class!
